An ongoing family dispute over a 16-acre parcel of land at O’Connor Street, Blanchisseuse left another man dead on Saturday 22nd April, 2023.
• The deceased has been identified as 50-year-old Carver Evangelist of Blanchisseuse.
• Around 7:10am, Evangelist was sitting under a Sapodilla Tree when he was ambushed and shot in the back of his head by a gunman.
• A resident in the area contacted the police, but by the time they arrived at the scene, Evangelist had already succumbed to his injuries.
• Evangelist’s relatives believed that his life could have been saved if police had acted on the 50 reports of death threats that he had lodged at the police station over the past two years.

The land dispute previously claimed the lives of Evangelist’s two (2) sons Sherwin Maharaj and Mitchell Evangelist in two separate incidents.
On February 17th, 2021: 31-year-old Sherwin Maharaj was ambushed and killed near an abandoned house in Blanchisseuse.

On January 26th, 2022: Maharaj’s brother 31-year-old Mitchell Evangelist was killed along with 51-year-old Nigel Dedier while they were working on a construction site along the Blanchisseuse Main Road.
