An illegal gunsmith who is allegedly linked to a criminal gang was shot dead in Petit Valley on Saturday 20th May, 2023.
• The deceased was identified as Steven Phillip who was wanted by police after they found firearm components and ammunition in his vehicle earlier this year.
• At around 6:00am, Phillip was exiting his vehicle at Simeon Road, Petit Valley when gunmen approached and opened fire on him.
• Phillip sustained multiple gunshot injuries and died at the scene of the incident.
• Persons who witnessed the incident, contacted the police and officers of the western division and Region 1 homicide bureau of Investigations responded and are continuing investigations.
