An elderly man identified as “Freddie” was arrested at his home after he chopped a couple of their bodies, who are his neighbours at Light pole #9 Yaraba Road, Carlsen Field on Tuesday 1st November, 2022.
• 59-year-old Devanand John and his wife 58-year-old Meena John remain warded at the Mt. Hope hospital nursing chop injuries about their bodies.
• Around 5:25pm, Devanand was at his home lying on his bed when he heard his wife screaming for help. Devanand, police said, went to investigate when he was approached by his neighbour, known as “Freddie” who also began chopping him about the body with a cutlass.
• Devanand fell to the ground and “Freddie” fled the scene. Both victims were later taken to the Chaguanas District Health Facility where they were treated and later transferred to the Mt. Hospital.
