An Attempt was made on the life of a Point Fortin man for the second time in less than a day

An Attempt was made on the life of a Point Fortin man for the second time in less than a day after gunmen fired a volley of shots at him while he stood in his gallery on Monday night.

• 40-year-old Jameson Samuel aka “Yankee”, escaped serious injury and possibly death after two men, dressed in hoodies over their heads, opened fire on Samuel who managed to run inside his home.

• Around 9:40pm last night, Samuel, a Safety Officer of Third Street, Techier Village, Point Fortin, was in the gallery of his home, when two men approached, armed with assault rifles, began firing shots at Jameson, who ducked and ran inside his home.

• The police were notified and officers of the Point Fortin Police Station responded. Crime Scene Investigators found 73 spent 5.56 shell casings; 9 spent 9mm shell casings; 2 live rounds of 9mm ammunition with the markings TTR (Trinidad and Tobago Regiment); and 7 live rounds of 9mm ammunition at the scene of the shooting.

• Around 2:30am on Sunday 20th November, 34-year-old Jamir Greenidge of Fanny Village, Point Fortin, was asleep at Jameson Samuel’s (his cousin) Third Street, Techier Village, Point Fortin, home, when he was shot.

• The victim was sleeping on a mattress on the ground in the living room when multiple gunshots were heard. He later discovered he was shot in the buttocks and the police were called. The victim was taken to the nearby Point Fortin Hospital where he was treated.

• On Sunday, Crime Scene Investigators found 62 spent 5.56 IMI shell casings, 10 live and 14 spent 9mm shell casings with the TTR engraved on them.

• The ammunition with the markings IMI was once acquired by the Government for use by the protective services for many years.

• The IMI ammunition may have been old ammunition in stock somewhere which is now being sold to criminal elements.
