An 11-year-old girl is among seven (7) persons who were shot and wounded during a drive-by shooting at 9th Street, Upper Sixth Avenue Malick, Barataria, near the community center on Monday 01st August, 2022.
• The incident, which was recorded on cctv, happened just after 9pm and showed a car pulling up near a shop and two men exiting and firing a volley of shots at a group of men who scampered for safety.
• One of the would-be-Victims, who had a pistol in his possession, returned fire causing the aimed assailants to flee the scene. Many have stated that the actions of this individual, though he had an illegal gun, are what prevented a massacre in the area.
• The injured victims were identified as Jordan, Junior, Marley, Timothy, “Papa”, Durell and the 11-year-old girl who was standing at the bottom of the street outside her home.
• At the time of the shooting, there was a function taking place for children at the Malick Community Centre following a sports day in the area hours earlier.
