The allegations of Eastern Division officers “taxing” illegal gaming businesses first surfaced on Friday where an officer, formerly assigned to the Eastern Division, but now assigned to the IATF, was recorded in a telephone conversation soliciting $30,000 for him and “the boys”.
• In that recording, the Chinese businessman said that price was too high and he was willing to continue with the $10,000 monthly “tax”.
• Reports are that several other businesses which have been paying the monthly “tax’ to police officers, in order to continue with their operations, have begun to speak out on the issue.
