Days after a liqour heist in Barataria by fake cops, hundreds of thousands of dollars in the stolen liqour was found at a Cunupia liqour mart…
• A truck which contained 588 cases of alcohol worth close to $800,000 was hijacked by the three men who pretended to be police officers during a bogus roadblock exercise near the Maritime Roundabout in Barataria on Wednesday 10th August, 2022.
• The vehicle was later found empty and abandoned at Dino Lane in Charlieville later that evening by officers of the Chaguanas CID.
• Based on investigations, headed by Snr. Supt. Maharaj, Supt Ramjohn, ASP Pariman and Inspector Sunil Bharath of the North Eastern Division and other officers of the Barataria CID, officers executed a search warrant, on Wednesday at Janam Supermarket and liquor store at Jerningham Junction Road Cunupia near Soogrim Street, where they found close to 100 cases of the stolen alcohol.
• Last Wednesday, the victims, ages 34 and 22, were in the white Mitsubishi Fuso truck transporting products when they observed the three suspects in police uniforms in the vicinity of the Maritime Plaza, conducting a roadblock and ordered the vehicle to stop.
• The suspects instructed the men to exit and present their driver’s license and insurance, before they were thrown into an ad wagon, blindfolded and tied up.
• The men stole their cash, cell phones and the keys to the truck, which contained over 588 cases of alcoholic beverages.
• The suspects drove off with the men and released them later in the Malick area.
