Acting Deputy Commissioner of Police, Erla Christopher, who is currently Acting as Commissioner, in the absence of Mc Donald Jacob, could be appointed as this country’s first female Commissioner of Police.
• Christopher is among 16 persons short-listed for the Top CoP job by the Police Service Commission.
• Among the top four are former Commissioner Gary Griffith, ACP Andre Norton, retired Defence Force Lt. Col. Sheldon Ramnanan and Christopher.
• Christopher became the second female officer to act as Commissioner of Police within the history of the service.
• In 2014, then Acting Deputy Commissioner of Police Ann-Marie Alleyne-Daly was first appointed to act as CoP in the absence of the then acting Top CoP Stephen Williams.
