According to Jacob, 87 per cent of the killings from January to the present are a result of gun violence. He added that 408 firearms have been seized and over 1,000 persons have been charged for gun-related offences for the year thus far.
• He expressed his concern as almost 60 high-powered weapons were seized within 8 months this year, compared to 61 that were seized for the entire year in 2021.
• He mentioned out of 21 shootings with high-powered rifles, 55 persons were killed and another 18 wounded.
