A woman stole a marked police vehicle from Cunupia Police Station.

A WOMAN IS FACING KIDNAPPING AND THEFT CHARGES AFTER SHE STOLE A MARKED POLICE VEHICLE FROM THE CUNUPIA POLICE STATION AND KIDNAPPED A TODDLER ON MONDAY 23RD JANUARY, 2023.

  • AROUND 2:00PM YESTERDAY, A 19-YEAR-OLD STREET VENDOR AND HIS 20-YEAR-OLD WIFE, BOTH OF TUMPUNA ROAD, ARIMA REPORTED THAT THEIR 1-YEAR-OLD DAUGHTER WAS KIDNAPPED BY A WOMAN KNOWN TO THEM.
  • THE 24-YEAR-OLD SUSPECT OF MT DOR ROAD, CHAMPS FLEURS REPORTEDLY WENT TO THE FAMILY‚ÄôS HOME TO VISIT.
  • THE CHILD’S PARENTS BRIEFLY LEFT THE HOUSE WITH THE WOMAN INSIDE AND ABOUT FIVE MINUTES LATER WHEN THEY RETURNED, THEY NOTICED THAT THEIR DAUGHTER WAS MISSING.
  • THE NEIGHBOURS INFORMED THE COUPLE THAT THE WOMAN HAD TAKEN THEIR CHILD AND THEY IMMEDIATELY CONTACTED THE POLICE.
  • AROUND 10:45PM LAST NIGHT, OFFICERS OF THE NORTH CENTRAL DIVISION WERE ON MOBILE PATROL IN TUNAPUNA, WHEN THEY NOTICED A MARKED POLICE, VEHICLE REGISTERED PCZ 9411 BEING DRIVEN BY A WOMAN ALONG THE EASTERN MAIN ROAD.
  • UPON MAKING CHECKS, THEY DISCOVERED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS REPORTED STOLEN FROM THE CUNUPIA POLICE STATION EARLIER THAT DAY AND A HIGH-SPEED CHASE ENSUED.
  • THE VEHICLE WAS INTERCEPTED NEAR THE EDDIE HART GROUNDS IN TACARIGUA, WHERE THE OFFICERS FOUND THE SUSPECT AND THE TODDLER WHO WAS REPORTED MISSING. 

THE CHILD WAS LATER RETURNED TO HER PARENTS AND TAKEN TO THE MT HOPE HOSPITAL TO SEEK MEDICAL ATTENTION AND THE SUSPECT WAS ARRESTED.
