Gasparillo police are probing an incident in which a woman, who they later detained, allegedly chopped her daughter and set her house on fire with her children inside.
• A Gasparillo woman is now in police custody after she allegedly tried to burn down her house with her two children inside on Tuesday 11th October, 2022.
• Kerwin Smart, a neighbour, said he was passing when he observed smoke flowing from the roof and went to help.
• Smart saw the woman’s 21-year-old daughter and 11-year-old son running from the back of the house located at Dalloo Road.
• The 21-year- old daughter was bleeding from a wound to the hand and said her mother had chopped her and poured gasoline in her room while her brother was on the bed, locked the bedroom door and set fire to the house.
• She broke a window and she & her brother were able to through which she and her brother jumped through to escape the flames. Smart said using a neighbour water hose he was able to out the fire.
• However, a relative at the scene told us that it was the daughter who set the house ablaze and cut her hand when she smashed a window during a dispute with her mother.
