On Monday 23rd January, a woman stole a Police SUV after kidnapping a baby. The woman has been identified as Anisa Noreiga of Cham Fluer.
Reports are Noreiga visited her friends at their Tumpuna Road, Arima home and kidnapped their 1-year-old child when they were occupied with a family emergency. Persons nearby told the parents that Anisa left with the child and a report was made to the police.
Later that night, Anisa visited the Cunupia Police station and asked if she could get a lift to Champ Fluer. At the time, the officers were dealing with a prisoner they brought in and they told her they couldn’t help her.
Noreiga reportedly drove out with the vehicle the officers came in with after they left the key in the ignition. She was later seen driving at a high speed along Eastern Main Road and when officers tried to intercept the vehicle she sped off. After a chase ensued, she was caught.
The child was returned to the parents and taken to the hospital and the police vehicle was wrecked.
Anisa was taken to the Cunupia Police Station and she is facing charges of kidnapping, driving the vehicle without the owner’s consent, driving without a valid driver’s license and without a valid certificate of insurance.
It was also reported that Noreiga is suffering from Postpartum depression after recently having a baby and losing her mother and brother to murder. Her ex-boyfriend, the father of her child has also ended the relationship and is with another woman.
