A ST. JOSEPH FAMILY IS CALLING ON THE MINISTRY OF WORKS AND TRANSPORT TO CONDUCT IMMEDIATE REMEDIAL WORKS AT THE ST. JOSEPH RIVER AS THE BANK HAS BEEN SLIPPING INTO THE RIVER, THREATENING THE STABILITY OF THEIR HOME.
- INGRID ISAAC SAID HER FAMILY HAS COMPLAINED SINCE 2018 ABOUT THE RIVER TO THE RELEVANT AUTHORITIES BUT TO NO AVAIL. SHE ADDED THAT WITH HEAVY RAINS LAST YEAR, THERE HAS BEEN FURTHER LAND SLIPPAGE INTO THE RIVER.
- SHE SAID SINCE WE ARE IN THE DRY SEASON, SUCH IS A PERFECT TIME FOR THE MINISTRY OF WORKS AND OTHER OFFICIALS TO ADDRESS THE LAND SLIPPAGE INSTEAD OF WAITING FOR THE RAINY SEASON WHICH WOULD MAKE SUCH WORKS EXTREMELY DIFFICULT.
ISAAC SAID SHE LIVES IN FEAR THAT HER HOME COULD FALL INTO THE RIVER AT ANYTIME GIVEN THE CONSTANT EROSION AND LACK OF ACTION BY STATE AGENCIES.
