A St. Helena man was shot and wounded by bandits during an attempted robbery in Wallerfield early on Monday:
• 47-year-old Everard Duke was driving west along the Churchill Roosevelt Highway around 4.30am on Monday, November 14th, when he developed mechanical issues which caused him to pull over near the Demerara Road, Wallerfield intersection.
• As he checked the car, he was approached by two armed men who alighted from a Nissan Tiida and demanded the keys to his vehicle. instead of complying, Duke threw the keys in some nearby bushes.
• As he attempted to escape by running away, he was shot in the right foot, while the bandits escaped in their car.
• The victim later made his way to the Arima District Health Facility where he was treated and discharged.
