A shooting in Carenage left a retired prison officer and another man injured on Tuesday 11th July, 2023.
• The victims were identified as 42-year-old Capista Dehere aka Capa and retired prison officer, 76-year-old Christopher Gleen.
• Around 7:30pm, Dehere was standing at the side of the road on Frisco Junction, Carenage when he was confronted by two men.
• The suspects then pulled out their firearms and began shooting at him.
• Dehere ran onto Upper Haig Street to escape the hail of bullets, when he realised, he had been shot in his right shoulder.
• The gunmen pursued Dehere and continued shooting at him.
• At that time, Gleen was sitting outside when he sustained gunshot injuries to his right thigh and the right side of his abdomen by stray bullets.
• The gunmen then made their escape along Abbe Poujade Street.
• Residents who heard the commotion took both men to the hospital where they received medical treatment and were warded in stable condition.
• Officers of the Western Division crime scene investigation unit visited the scene and recovered six spent .45 shells and four spent 9 mm shells.
