A shooting at Antigua Road, Wallerfield, Arima, left one (1) woman dead and another man injured on Sunday 11th December, 2022.
• The deceased has been identified as a Chinese businesswoman, 44-year-old Jinme Li, the owner of Benefit the People Supermarket of Eastern Main Road, Barataria.
• While the injured man was identified as 41-year-old Huojian Chen, a Chinese national of Curepe.
• Around 6:10pm, the duo, were travelling in a silver Nissan Tiida, driven by Chen along Antigua Road, near the highway, when they were accosted by occupants of a white y11 station wagon, who opened fire on them.
• The Tiida crashed off the roadway into a ditch as the suspects made their escape.
• officers responded to the report, where they found Chen clasping for breath.
• They took him to the Arima Hospital where he was treated for gunshot injuries and remains in critical condition.
• Li, however, died inside the front passenger seat of the car during the incident.
