A Sangre Grande businessman was shot and killed in a hit outside his business place but the killer tried to make it look like robbery was the motive on Sunday 29th January 2023.
• 47-year-old Sherwin Bernard was shot once in the car outside his minimart along the Vega de Oropouche Road in Sangre Grande on Sunday 29th January, 2023. He died at the scene of the shooting.
• Around 3:20pm, Bernard, the nephew of deceased former Commissioner of Police Jules Bernard, was conducting sales at his minimart when a man emerged from a white Nissan Tiida motorcar, and approached and shot him once in the face.
• The suspect then took two packs of cigarettes and cash before fleeing the scene. Police believe robbery was not the motive but the suspect deliberately took items from the business to give that impression.
