A police-involved shooting left two (2) dead at Mt. D’or Road, Champ Fleurs on Thursday 05th January, 2023.
• Around 4:30 am, officers of the northern division, during an anti-crime exercise, attempted to execute a search warrant at the home of Joel Hannibal, a person of interest in recent shootings and murders in the area.
• Reportedly, the officers were confronted by two persons armed with firearms who refused commands to drop their weapons.
• The suspects, identified as Jerome Charles and Andrew Blacks, were engaged and shot.
• Police added that the men ran a short distance away but collapsed and were taken to the mt. Hope hospital where they were declared dead.
• An ak-47 rifle with 18 rounds of 7.62 ammunition and a Glock 17 9mm pistol with 17 rounds of 9mm ammunition were recovered at the scene.
• 28-year-old Joel Hannibal and 26-year-old Jenielle Criss both of the same address at mt. D’or road in champ fleurs were taken into police custody
