A man who stole rims from a civilian vehicle at a police vehicle storage facility at the Cumuto Base was later fined by an Arima Magistrate after he pleaded guilty…

• An employee of a wrecking service was arrested and charged by police with stealing car rims from a police Storage Facility in Cumuto, which was being guarded by police officers.

• According to police on 8th august, 2022, Sgt Gajadhar reported to police that the rims on a dark blue Nissan Almera reg. # PBY 3856 was stolen from the transport facility storage for stolen vehicles at the Cumuto base in Wallerfield.

• Investigations were conducted and information obtained and several statements were recorded by Sgts. Ammon and Caesar which resulted in the arrest of 44-year-old Charles Jattan 35 – 37 apt. “l” Nelson St. POS, a wrecker service employee, with ” Wreck for Less” Co.

• Police said Jattan was interviewed and he admitted to the crime which resulted in the rims being recovered in the vicinity of bamboo No. 3 Valsayn.

• Jattan was charged on Monday and he appeared before Arima Magistrate Nazim Khan where he pleaded guilty to the offence and was fined $5,000 or in default, he will serve 9 months of hard labour. PC Babwah laid the charges.
