A man was shot and critically wounded during a shooting incident in the capital city Port of Spain late on Monday 31st October, 2022, the same day he celebrated his 34th birthday.
• Aaron Kempton of Barataria, was shot while a woman, who was also seated in the passenger seat of his car, escaped injury, when gunmen in a black Nissan X-trail SVU, opened fire on the duo.
• The shooting happened around 10:40pm while Kempton was seated in the driver seat of a blue Hyundai Elantra, which was facing a southerly direction at the corner of Broadway and South Quay POS.
• A black Nissan X-Trail alongside Kempton’s vehicle and an occupant fired several rounds in the direction of the victim causing him to sustain serious injuries. Carlene Lee became afraid, following which she exited and fled on foot from PDH 2034 in an easterly direction along South Quay.
• The female passenger fled from the vehicle on foot as Kempton drove off but subsequently crashed the vehicle into a concrete barrier next to the Carenage Taxi Stand.
• He was taken to the Port of Spain General Hospital by officers of the Belmont Police Station who were in the area and responded to a report on the shooting.
• Kempton remains warded in critical but stable condition. Eight (8) spent .9mm shell casings and one (1) live .9mm round was recovered at the scene.
