A man was found shot to death in a chair at his Malabar, Arima home on Sunday 18th June, 2023.
• The deceased is 51-year-old Michael Robert Boney of Cacique Drive off Semp Avenue in Malabar and Rampersad Trace, Vega De Oropouche, Sangre Grande.
• Around 3:00pm, residents of Cacique Drive heard a series of loud explosions and contacted the police.
• When the officers arrived at the scene, they observed Boney sitting on a chair in his gallery covered in multiple gunshot injuries.
• Crime scene investigators visited the scene and recovered 25 spent 9mm shell casings.
Just on Sunday 04th June, 2023, an attempt was also made on Boney’s life at his home in Vega De Oropouche, Sangre Grande.
• Around 9:40am, Boney was in the yard of his home when a black Honda City motor vehicle registration number PBP 4769 approached.
• Two men dressed in dark-coloured clothing exited the vehicle with assault weapons and fired several shots at Boney before fleeing the scene.
• Boney managed to escape unharmed and immediately contacted the police.
• Officers of the Sangre Grande CID, together with officers from the Eastern Division Task Force area north and ERP responded and conducted enquires into the report.
• Based on information gathered by the special investigation unit, a team of officers went to an unnamed gravel road on the western side along the Toco Main Road in Sangre Grande where they observed the getaway vehicle.
• A search was conducted on the vehicle and 2 AR-15 rifles with 30 rounds of 5.56 live ammunition and 11 rounds of 5.56 ammunition were discovered.
