A man was beaten and restrained by villagers after he shot another man during a fight in Arima early on Friday 14th July, 2023.
• Around 6:30am, a 43-year-old man reportedly dropped off his son at the corner of Martinez Street and Arima Old Road, when a black Toyota Aqua approached the boy.
• A man then got out of the vehicle and started to fight the man’s son causing him to intervene.
• Another man who was seated in the vehicle, drove up and shot at the boy’s father before speeding off, leaving his accomplice behind.
• The 43-year-old man sustained gunshot injuries to his hand, hip and leg and collapsed to the ground.
• Residents saw the commotion and apprehended the attacker before they tied him to a lamppost and severely beat him.
• They then contacted the Arima Police who took the victim and the attacker to the Arima district health facility where they were treated.
