A man is left in critical condition at the hospital after he was involved in an altercation in Sangre Grande

A man is left in critical condition at the hospital after he was involved in an altercation in Sangre Grande on Monday 12th December 2022.

• 35-year-old Terry Dabreau also known as “Mud” of Jacelon Trace, Vega De Oropouche, Sangre Grande, remains unconscious at the mt. hope hospital after he was struck with a cutlass during an incident with 28-year-old Ricardo Jakie.

• Reportedly, around 8:30am on Sunday, Terry was at Ricardo’s home, following a J’ouvert party in the area, when one of Ricardo’s neighbours threw a stone which broke a window at Ricardo’s house.

• Ricardo came out with a cutlass and confronted the man and Terry got in the middle and attempted to make peace.

• Terry then took the cutlass from Ricardo and pushed him inside the driveway of his home and pushed the neighbour out from Terry’s driveway.

• As Terry handed back Ricardo the cutlass and turned his back to walk away, Ricardo struck him on the back of his head with the weapon, causing him to fall to the ground.

• The police were notified and pc Abzal and WPC Coraby of the emergency response patrol unit responded to a report and took Terry to the Sangre Grande district hospital where he was treated and transferred to the mt. hope hospital.

• Ricardo was subsequently detained and taken to the Sangre Grande police station.
