A man was gunned down after he went to purchase a phone in East Port-of-Spain on Sunday 30th April, 2023.
• The deceased has been identified as Brandon Bassington.
• Around 2:45pm, Bassington and one of his relatives, reportedly went to a poultry shop along Piccadilly Street in East Port of Spain to purchase a phone.
• While seated in his Grey Nissan Almera registered PCE 3498, a man armed with a gun approached and announced a robbery.
• The suspect reportedly demanded the two men exit the vehicle and hand over the keys
• Bassington allegedly resisted and the suspect shot him before fleeing the scene on foot.
• Bassington drove a short distance away where his vehicle crashed into a structure near Rose Hill.
• Bassington died at the scene of the shooting while the other occupant was not harmed.
