A fisherman was killed and another was injured after police officers opened fire on them while at the Salybia Fishing Depot during the early hours of Wednesday 12th October, 2022.
• The dead man has been identified as 42-year-old Larry Venus of Sangre Grande and 30-year-old Stevie Guy of Toco Main Road. Guy remains warded in critical condition at the Sangre Grande District Hospital.
• Venus had earlier come to shore after fishing and returned with Guy to collect his pair of spectacles which he forgot on the pirogue when men opened fire on them.
• It was sometime after, according to two witnesses, they discovered that the men who shot Stevie and Venus, were police officers.
• Relatives also complained that the police and officials at the Sangre Grande District Hospital have refused to give information on the incident and Guy.
