A Cumuto man died at hospital following a street brawl near the Cumuto Police Station early on Saturday.
• The deceased has been identified as 35-year-old Junior Cox of 117 Cumuto Main Road, Cumuto.
• A police report on the incident states that around 10:25 am on Saturday 18th February 2023, PC Chance and PC Plaza of the Cumuto Police Station received a report of a body at the side of the Cumuto Main Road, opposite Frontline Food establishment.
• Officers went to the scene and observed Junior lying on his back on the pavement, on the northern side of the roadway, barefooted with a pair of black slippers seen on the eastern side of his body.
• Swelling was observed above his right eye and what appeared to be blood emanating from the back of his head.
• Cox was taken to the Arima District Hospital by EHS personnel but succumbed to his injuries around 11:23 am.
• Police were told that around 4 am on Saturday 18th February 2023, Cox and other persons were involved in an altercation along the Cumuto Main Road Cumuto, with other men from the area.
Objects were tossed and several persons were hit with glass bottles including the deceased.
