A coconut vendor was shot and killed outside Maharaj Supermarket in Curepe on Saturday 20th May, 2023.
• The deceased was identified as Roger Maraj who is the brother of Raymond Maraj aka “Rocky”.
• Roger was standing outside of the supermarket when a car drove past.
• The occupants of the car emerged and opened fire on him before two of the men, one armed with an ar-15 and the other with a handgun exited the vehicle and further shot Roger.
• Roger, father of eight succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
• Roger was not known to be involved in criminal activity but it is believed that he was killed by members of the resistance gang who wants to take control of the Old Train Line Road, Warner Street, St Augustine community.
Between January to now, a total of seven (7) persons from the area were gunned down.
The most recent murder took place on Thursday 04th May, 2023, when 22-year-old Chris Pooran was shot and killed while attending Dillon Joseph’s wake at Train Line Road, Warner Street, St Augustine.
30-year-old Dillon Joseph was Rocky’s brother-in-law, who was gunned down at his watermelon stand near the Caroni roundabout on Wednesday 26th April, 2023.
