A 60-year-old man is expected to appear before a San Fernando Magistrate on April 6 to be charged with the murder of Nirmala Jaggernath, which occurred on August 11, 2022.
• The suspect identified as Cliff Hosein, aka ‘Sexy’, was charged with the offence at the Port-of-Spain Prison on Tuesday 14th March, 2023 and the matter was called in his absence in the San Fernando First Magistrates’ Court, before Magistrate Debby Ann Bassaw, on that same date.
On Thursday 11th August, 2022: 64-year-old Nirmala Jaggernauth aka ‘one foot’, was at her Point-a-Pierre Road, San Fernando home when she allegedly got into an argument with Hosein.
• Sometime later, Nirmala’s body was found lying motionless in the house and a report was subsequently made to the police.
• Supt. Dhillpaul, ASP Persad, Insp. Hosein and Sgts. Forbes and Smith, carried out investigations which resulted in Hosein being arrested in connection with the matter.
• Hosein was charged with the offence by WPC Dyer-Baptiste, of the Homicide Bureau of Investigations (HBI), Region Three
