4 bandits who staged a daring daylight home invasion at Valsayn South on Saturday were arrested by police after their getaway car crashed causing a traffic nightmare for motorists on the highway near the Aranguez overpass on Saturday.
• The robbery happened around 11 am on Saturday 25th February at Springfield Avenue, Valsayn while a 38-year-old man was in the yard of his home.
• A black Nissan Tiida registration number PBY 4980, which was a false plates stuck on the original plates PCB 9188, drove into the compound and four men, one armed with a gun emerged and announced a robbery. They took the victim inside his home where they demanded cash and valuables.
• The suspects stole the victim’s wallet which contained $500; a purse that contained $5,000; an iPhone 11 valued at $5,000; and a power bank valued at $ 50 USD.
• They then made their escape west along the highway but their car crashed and overturned, pinning one of them, identified as 34-year-old Keron Frederick of Picton Road Laventille, inside the Nissan Tiida motorcar. He was the first suspect arrested by police who responded to the accident only to be told of the initial armed robbery.
• Officers of the Barataria CID arrested 23-year-old Jabari Paul of Laventille Road San Juan and 21-year-old Jaheem Cudjoe of Lovell Place East Dry River Laventille. They were handed over to officers at the St. Joseph CID.
• Additional searches were conducted and officers of the Interagency Task Force subsequently arrested 31-year-old Jamal Mc Clutchinson of Picton Road Laventille.
• Three of the four suspects fled the scene of the accident inside a black KIA sedan registration PDP 795, which was also captured on CCTV footage near the house during the robbery in Valsayn.
• Police recovered the stolen cell phone, power bank and a quantity of cash taken during the robbery were recovered by police. PC Nicholls of the St. Joseph CID is investigating the incident.
