Close to 30 people are left homeless after a fire gutted their homes in John Street Marabella early on Thursday 16th March 2023.
• The fire destroyed three buildings comprising 8 apartments.
• A father of 7 who also resides on the property with his wife and kids in one of the homes which has two apartments lost 150 ducks and 35 bullfinches which he sells for a living.
• While the cause of the fire is being investigated by the Marabella Police Station and the Mon Repos Fire Station, tenants believe that it was an electrical fire as several reports were made about low voltage to T&TEC.
• Occupants of the homes lost every single thing they possess except for the clothing on their backs, Liselle David told our camera crew at the scene earlier this afternoon.
This is the second occurrence this week where multiple persons have lost their homes due to a fire within Marabella.
