The suspect in the murder of A police officer at Katwaroo Trace in Penal earlier today identified himself to police as the nephew of the Acting Commissioner of Police, McDonald Jacob.
• #17409 PC Syed Mohammed who wasn’t on active duty at the time, and was a member of the Trinidad and Tobago police service for over 20 years, was shot and killed by two suspects in Penal.
• The suspects were identified as Daniel James of Princes Town and McDonald Jacob’s nephew, Marcus Jacob, of St. Croix, Princes Town.
• Subsequent to the shooting, both suspects were arrested and the gun used in the incident was recovered in their getaway vehicle bearing a false license plate, after they were intercepted by police at Debe trace, outside the meat block.
• A Glock 17 pistol was also found inside the vehicle by PC Deena and PC Vialva of the Southern Division ERP Unit who were on mobile patrol and responded to the report of the shooting.
