Investigations continue into the incident in which a father and son were ambushed and shot dead while returning to their home at Three B’s Drive, Caroni North Bank Road in Piarco late yesterday afternoon.
• The victims are 45-year-old Nigel Mootoo aka “Skull” and his son, 19-year-old Nerkyle Mootoo, who were shot by armed men as they pulled up outside their home.
• Around 5pm, Nigel was driving a blue Nissan Wingroad station wagon registration PCW 2968, in company with his wife and five-year-old son, while Nerkyle was driving a white Nissan y11 PBR 8659 behind his dad’s car heading towards their home.
• as the remote gate opened and Nigel was about to drive into the yard, a silver grey, Nissan Tiida with heavily tinted glasses pulled up behind Nerkyle’s car and the occupants exited and opened fire on him, causing the car to crash into a neighbour’s concrete wall.
• Nigel opened the driver’s seat of his car and started to run, but was pursued and shot multiple times about the body by the suspects. he died at the scene.
• the suspects re-entered their motorcar and fled the scene. Nerkyle was taken to the Mt. Hope Hospital by family members but he died around 6:20pm while undergoing emergency surgery.
